AC systems

For AC systems, this subject will be a combination day consisting of lecture combined with hands-on activity in a single 3 hour class. Due to the nature of AC work and the harm caused by AC refrigerant being let out in the atmosphere, this class will focus on concept and diagnosis. Depending on circumstances we may approve some repairs on AC systems. The reason for this is we want to emphasis whats practical for students to utilize outside our garage. However, without proper equipment, it is impractical and often irresponsible to perform your own AC work. AC refrigerant should not be let into the air and it should be captured by a suitable recovery machine and then reintroduced into the vehcile. Those recovery machines are often expensive and impractical for someone to purchase. Diagnosis and focus will include

• AC compressors

• Blower motors

• High and Low pressure lines

• Condensers

• Blend doors

• How to check or add refrigerant levels
