Presentation / Lecture
Presentation days will consist of lectures and discussions with examples relevant to the specific system we’ll be covering that day. Unlike hands-on service days, safety and protective equipment is not required but we may be outside and on the ground looking at vehicles. Dress accordingly.
Hands-on service
Hands-on service days will consist of repairs and maintenance related to the system listed on the schedule. Money raised from class will go to garage supplies and rent, but the majority will go to students or community members costs for parts. We cannot guarantee payment for everyone’s parts and repair costs, but we will cover what we can. After all, this is educational mutual aid. Payment for parts is on a case by case basis and we must approve service beforehand to ensure we can accommodate your needs and provide an adequate learning environment for everyone.
For example, if you or your neighbor’s car needs new brakes, and we approve this for class, we will pay a portion or ALL of the cost of parts and then install them in class together.
The following is required for hands on service days:
Eye protection will be provided but we recommend bringing your own.
Closed toe shoes.
Appropriate clothing for being on the ground or outside.
Hearing protection and hair ties will be provided but are optional.
Please note pets and service animals are not allowed for hands-on classes. This is a loud, toxic, and dangerous environment for our furry friends, we’re sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you for being understanding.
Combination classes
There will be some specific “combination” classes that will be lecture AND hands-on service. This will be listed on the schedule. If you want to participate in the hands-on portion of the class, safety and personal protective equipment are required.
Please note pets and service animals are not allowed for hands-on classes. This is a loud, toxic, and dangerous environment for our furry friends, we’re sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you for being understanding. All other furries are welcome.
